Update Elephant Hill Wildfire investigation

RCMP investigators and BC Widlfire Services investigating the Elephant Hill Wildfire have eliminated train rail line activities as a possible cause of the wildfire.

On July 6, 2017 just before 10 pm, BC Wildfire Services received information that there was a fire near Elephant Hill which is south of Ashcroft. As of August 8, 2017, this fire is still active and is estimated at 117, 170 hectares in size.

BC Wildlfire Services and the RCMP continue to investigate the Elephant Hill Fire and can confirm that the fire was not caused by train traffic or rail maintenance related activities on the rail lines.
