Lake Country interface wildfire confirmed as arson

The investigation into the July 15, 2017 interface fire in the Okanagan Centre Rd area of Lake Country continues, along with confirmation that the fire was intentionally set.
RCMP investigators looking into Okanagan Centre Rd wildfire of July 15, in Lake Country have confirmed that the fire was intentionally set and considered to be a criminal case of arson. Tips are coming in via the tip line and investigators would like to speak to anyone who was in the area that day and have not spoken to police to date.
Investigators need to speak to a group of adults who were using a recreational area near the place of origin of the fire on Okanagan Centre Rd in order to determine whether they witnessed any activity related to the fire. Police are interested in reviewing any cellphone footage or pictures that may have been captured that day, by boaters or those on land including dash cam footage, from motorists who were in or travelling through the area on Saturday July 15th. Should any residents have cctv security cameras near Okanagan Centre Rd, RCMP investigators are also interested in reviewing any recorded footage.
We have seen footage and pics shared on public social media sites and via mainstream media to date and are determined to review as much footage and pics that were captured that day, taken prior to and during the fire incident. We are dealing with a matter where substantial damages resulted, in addition to financial and emotional hardship suffered by several residents. It is by luck that nobody was injured or killed in this interface fire, stated Cpl Dan Moskaluk
Specialized police resources and investigative techniques are being devoted to this file and we are also asking the public to remain vigilant and to report anything suspicious to police, added Cpl Dan Moskaluk.
